Monsta: The Next Chapter press event on Wednesday, 27th February introduced a brand new concept dubbed as the Power Sphera Universe (PSU) — a universe which encompasses all of Monsta’s various IPs. Many may already be familiar with such a concept, not unlike the much talked about Marvel Cinematic Universe or MCU which combines many of its characters from different films under one interconnected universe.

The event also saw the launch of Monsta’s upcoming new BoBoiBoy Galaxy Season 2 MONTHLY comic which will be a continuation to the hit BoBoiBoy Galaxy animated series and BoBoiBoy Movie 2. Check out the super awesome announcement video below!

“We have previously produced the first season of BoBoiBoy Galaxy in comic form once every three months—with 100,000 copies printed in a year⁠—so we now feel the need to release it every month due to the high demand from fans.”

Monsta’s Chief Executive Officer, Nizam Razak explained that the time required to complete a full, 3D-animated series meant that it would take much too long before the finished product can be released to the public especially with other productions underway such as the wildly anticipated Mechamato series ⁠— a separate new series which follows the adventures of BoBoiBoy’s father, Amato. In order to efficiently develop and expand the Power Sphera Universe (PSU) within a reasonable time frame, Monsta decided to venture into comic form for its second season of BoBoiBoy Galaxy. This would allow them to preserve the momentum of the BoBoiBoy Galaxy while simultaneously juggling the production of their newest series, Mechamato.

In order to efficiently develop and expand the Power Sphera Universe (PSU), Monsta decided to venture into comic form for BoBoiBoy Galaxy Season 2. This would allow them to preserve the momentum of the BoBoiBoy Galaxy while simultaneously juggling the production of their newest series, Mechamato, which follows the adventures of BoBoiBoy’s father, Amato, as a young boy.

According to Anas Abd Aziz, Monsta’s Creative Director, this strategy is not unfamiliar among popular names in the foreign animation industry. Many series would start off in comic form first and the animated version would then follow suit.

Nizam Razak also added that many adults and kids alike prefer to have something physical to hold or collect. The publication of this monthly comic would encourage fans to start a collection that could be very meaningful and memorable and can be shared forward for many years to come.
